January and February 2023 Quartzsite Arizona Event Schedule! Quartzsite, Arizona isn’t the first place that comes to mind for anyone who hasn’t been bit by the wander-bug. And yet, every January and February this town of approximately 2,300 permanent residents explodes to hundreds of thousands for a short period to host huge groups of vagabonds coming together to spend a month or two in the desert and to experience the schedule of events that are planned as a result.
Heck, we didn’t even know about Quartzsite until a year or so ago when we were converting our Shuttle Bus into a tiny home on wheels and binge-watching every YouTube video on the subject. 2023 will be the first year, that we will actually be visiting Q, and experiencing what all the excitement is about!
As you could imagine, with that many people, what is there to do? Fortunately, below we have compiled as much of a snapshot as possible of all the events that will be taking place in and around Quartzsite, Arizona listed in chronological order. Please let us know if we missed any, and will be sure to update you.
Burning Van IV
December 29 – January 2, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
Burning Van IV! Vanlifers, skoolielifers, nomads, friends, family, and fools, come join me in the Burning of the Van to ring in the new year. This event is FREE. All attendees must be self-sufficient and are expected to pack it in/ pack it out. We will be doing a desert clean-up on the last day of the event. The official schedule and coordinates will be posted in the discussion as we get closer to the event.
Xscapers New Year’s Eve Meetup 2023
December 30, 2022 – January 1, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
Xscapers New Year’s Eve Meetup 2023! Celebrate the New Year with your fellow Xscapers! Join us at this meetup to ring in the new year!
With Annual Bash outgrowing Quartzsite and moving to Lake Havasu, we want to ensure we maintain the spirit and roots of the first Quartzsite Convergence that took place 7 years ago. Just like the first handful of Xscapers gatherings, this will be a casual opportunity to link up with some fellow Xscapers.
The plan is to simply enjoy each other’s company and ring in the New Year under the desert sky. This event is completely free to attend! You’ll just need to register so we can send you information on where to find us (closer to the time of the event), then show up and have a great time.
THE LIT CACTUS HIPPIE NEW YEARS CAMPFIRE

You asked for another hippie party, so you’re gonna get another hippie party!!!
Join us at The Lit Cactus on Saturday, December 31st for hopefully the most EPIC New Years campfire in the history of New Years campfires!!!
Dress in your greatest hippie gear and step back in time whilst we end this year and blast into the next, amongst fellow desert-dwelling hippies!!! I can’t think of a better way to start and end a year than to embrace and enact the greatest and most spiritually capturing energies of peace and love!!!
2nd Annual Gypsy Minstrel Caravan Gathering
January 6 – 14, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
Calling all Gypsies, Musicians, Artists, and Creative Nomads. Join us once again for our 2nd Annual Gypsy Minstrel Caravan Gathering.
Camp with us and enjoy Community around a central campfire and break bread with your Nomad Family!
Events include Music by the campfire, Unique Talent Show, Howling at the Moon, a potluck dinner, Chanting, Drum Circle, Tarot Card Readings, and more!

WRTR (Women’s Rubber Tramp Rendezvous)

The Women’s Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (WRTR) provides classes to help people succeed in the nomadic lifestyle. Those who are experienced nomads share their expertise, in-person and online. The WRTR is a great way to make friends and see old friends from WRTRs past.
As always, the primary focus of the classes of the WRTR is to provide information for people new to the nomadic lifestyle:

The 13th Annual RTR (Rubber Tramp Rendezvous)
January 13 – 20, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
The 13th Annual RTR (Rubber Tramp Rendezvous) Although no permits have been signed yet, HOWA received verbal confirmation on October 6 from the Town of Quartzsite regarding the use of the Quartzsite Town Park baseball field for the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) and the Women’s RTR (WRTR) — the same location as the January 2022 RTRs.

Quartzsite Sports, Vacation, and RV Show
January 21 – 29, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
Every January something happens that is hard to believe unless you have seen it! According to the Arizona Highway Department, as many as 750,000 to 1,000,000 people, mostly in RV’s, converge on this sleepy little desert town, located just 20 miles east of the California border on Interstate 10, for the rock, gem, and mineral shows, plus numerous flea markets and the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show.
This phenomenon started over 40 years ago and is now billed as “The Largest Gathering Of RVers in the World”…
Q23 YouTube RV Rally
January 21 – 29, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
Q23 YouTube RV Rally is coming! Circle the wagons around the campfire with Grand Adventure, Camper Size Living, Traveling Robert, Worth Every Mile, Roaming With Rosie, Rambling Voyage, and more at Quartzsite 2023! Our rally in the La Posa South BLM LTVA will coincide with the Big Tent Week, 1/20/2023 to 1/29/2023.
We’ll be setting up in the BLM’s La Posa South. There will be no fees other than the BLM camping permit and a firewood fund. We’d be thrilled to see you there!
Skooliepalooza 2023: the ungathering

The ungathering is a non-event taking place in Ehrenberg, AZ around JAN 23, 2023 – JAN 29, 2023.
Doesn’t it usually have two weekends?
Yes, SkooliePalooza normally has two weekends. As the dates were published long ago, we decided not to change them. However, it is being held on public land and you come early and leave late if you wish. Party on!

Van Aid 2023 – Plomosa Road
February 2 – 15, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
In the spirit of the popular Van Build events once hosted by Jamie Dimon with Enigmatic Nomadics, Van Aid 2023 – Plomosa Road is Hosted by Jason Simonds and will provide assistance for those who seek to better their vehicle living conditions. Whether it be building beds, kitchens, or some remodels done to the vehicles you travel and live within.
2023 Truck Camper Adventure Boondocking Rally in Quartzsite
February 8 – 12, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
Hosted by Truck Camper Adventure (truckcamperadventure.com), this is the largest and possibly the best truck camper rally in America. This is a truck camper rally, meaning you must own a hard-side or pop-up truck camper to attend. Like previous Truck Camper Adventure rallies, this will be a boondocking rally held at the Roadrunner Wash BLM Area 6 miles south of Quartzsite.
No hookups and other amenities will be available. Pack it in, pack it out.
The rally is scheduled for February 9 to February 12, 2023 with the check-in scheduled for February 8. The rally consists of workshops and classes, contests, live music, a sponsored raffle, campfire socials, and a truck camper “open house.” Details and the full itinerary will be posted on the truckcamperadventure.com website.
Arizona Grand Design RV Rally – Quartzsite
February 23 – 26, 2023 (Quartzsite, AZ)
Camping in the desert? Yes, please! If you own a Grand Design RV, come and join us in the desert for a few days of fun, food, and camaraderie with other GDRV owners. Whether you’re new to boondocking (camping without hookups) or a seasoned pro, you will enjoy this event.
